§ Painting Movie Night - St. Patrick’s Day Evening, March 17th §

 

More than a dozen members gathered to watch a 2-hour DVD of Richard Schmid painting a landscape, entitled “Spring”. We shared a great pot luck dinner as well as catching up on each other’s activities.  A good time was had by all. Thanks to Marilyn Sadler for photos.

 

 

 


Call for Artists

 

Christ Church Cathedral

 

Members of Plein Aire Painters of the Bluegrass has been invited to participate in an art exhibit and sale at Lexington’s Christ Church Cathedral Gallery at the church on Market Street. The theme is Shaker Village and the Shakers.    There is a $10 entry fee, see Christ Church Call for Artists for details. Jesse Mark, the Arts Chairperson, says “The shaker singers will be at the gallery hop reception and their PR person will set up a display table. There is also a commitment from their food service. So we should have a very good reception on April 16th.“  Please submit images of your artwork to him via email at jpmark@windstream.net.  Submit them before March 24th.

 


Summer Show

 

Shaker Village

Again, this summer PAPB members are invited to show their work at the Ministry Workshop at Shaker Village, Harrodsburg, Kentucky.  Please get your works to Dan McGrath by Friday April 30th. Please confine works to those depicting Shaker Village and it’s environs. Works will remain up until the end of August.


Fall Show

September 1st -Special exhibit of Art works depicting farms of church members of First Presbyterian Church Lexington; at the church gallery.  This will run during the FEI World Equestrian Games.

 

The church will contact and arrange visits to the farms for those who have signed up for this already. Closed to additional participants.

Charter

o         To encourage the practice and development of plein aire painting in the Central Kentucky area. To promote camaraderie among artists.

o         To initiate and support shows and sales by members who do plein aire painting.

o         To obtain, develop and share expertise in plein aire painting for all members.

o         To provide opportunities for members to paint, socialize and publicize their skills and works.

How We Work

o         Scheduled paint-outs, shows and other activities are shown on the Calendar.

 

o         Members telephone or email one another and arrange painting trips. It is expected that most trips will take place during the week. The email mailing list is maintained by the contact person (see below).

o         Each person who initiates the trip is responsible for informing others, limiting the number of persons participating, arranging travel, and leaving the site with zero impact (trash, etc.). Each location and trip should be listed on this website for the future benefit of others.

o         This web site maintains links helpful for plein aire painters. To add links, send the title and web site address to the contact person.

o         Yearly shows of art works is open to members only and are juried shows.

Membership

o         Painters - All painters are welcome to come to paint-outs. In only a few cases, where only a limited number of painters can be accommodated, members will have priority. Any painter can get on the email/mailing list to be informed of upcoming paint-out’s.

o         Members – Dues are $40 per year, payable by April 1st  in a given calendar year. Members can have images of two of their works on the “Members” web page with a link to their web site and/or email.  Members will receive discounts from selected art suppliers when they receive their membership packets. o         Planning committee members gather ideas, implement activities and collect feedback and schedule paint-outs. The committee currently consists of Andy Bass, Ann Pass, Bob Sanford, Dan McGrath and Jill Plaisted
